The Goals
The Challenge
When Vibe Retail partnered with Nomada Digital, they had a strong product but no organic footprint. Launched in late 2025, the site was effectively invisible across both traditional search and the emerging AI-driven discovery layer. Competitive visibility for "cloud based POS" and "retail POS" queries was dominated by entrenched names with a decade of authority - Lightspeed, Shopify POS, Square, Clover.
The challenge was clear: Build search authority from scratch in a competitive SaaS category, and simultaneously establish Vibe Retail as a brand that LLMs and Google's AI Overview would cite - at a moment when most B2B buyers now research through AI before clicking anything.
Client background
Vibe Retail is a Brooklyn-based SaaS platform serving independent and multi-location retailers across the US. Their cloud-based POS system is built specifically for retail workflows - inventory management, multi-store operations, barcoding, integrated payment processing - rather than adapted from a hospitality or general-purpose platform.
When they engaged Nomada Digital, they needed visibility fast - both in traditional Google rankings and across the AI surfaces that increasingly shape B2B buying decisions before a single click happens.
We were brought in to lead an AEO-led SEO strategy designed to:
- Capture AI Overview citations on the highest-intent commercial queries.
- Build LLM brand presence across ChatGPT and other AI search tools.
- Translate AI visibility into qualified organic traffic on commercial-intent keywords.
The Strategy
With Vibe Retail entering a category dominated by 10+ year old domains with massive backlink equity, we knew that traditional SEO alone wouldn't move the needle fast enough. Instead, we built a strategy designed to win on both Google and AI search simultaneously - using one playbook.
AEO strategy: Engineering AI Overview and LLM citations on demand
Most "AEO" services on the market today are SEO repackaged with new terminology. We took a different angle: identifying the specific content patterns that LLMs and Google's AI Overview consistently cite, and engineering a campaign that targeted them deliberately.
The pattern is straightforward once you see it: LLMs and AI Overviews lean heavily on up-to-date "best of" listicles published on high-authority domains. When a buyer asks ChatGPT or Google's AI Overview "what's the best retail POS system?" the AI doesn't independently evaluate platforms - it cites a ranked list from a publication it considers authoritative.
So we built the campaign around that mechanism:
- Listicle placement strategy. We leveraged Nomada's network of editorial publishers to secure "best of" listicles on high-DA retail and ecommerce publications, where Vibe Retail was positioned as the top-ranked cloud POS provider on merit - built specifically for retail rather than adapted from another vertical.
- AEO-structured on-site content. Each money keyword received a dedicated on-site piece engineered for AI Overview capture: question-format H2s, comparison tables, structured FAQ schema, and opening paragraphs tuned to match the exact phrasing of the target query.
- Anchored authority transfer. Every external listicle placement carried two contextual links - one to Vibe Retail's homepage, one to the relevant on-site cluster page - ensuring authority flowed into the pages designed to convert.
The strongest evidence that this playbook works on demand: the most recent listicle we placed went live in the morning, and Google's AI Overview was citing it as the top source by that same evening - naming Vibe Retail as the Best Overall POS for inventory management for 2026. That's not a side effect of traditional SEO. That's an engineered outcome.
SEO strategy: Topical clusters built for retail buyers
Alongside the AEO play, we built out a content cluster strategy mapping product features to retail verticals - pairing capabilities like inventory management and multi-location operations with the specific industries Vibe serves. Each cluster article reinforced the topical authority of the brand and created additional surfaces for AI citation.
By combining listicle placements, AEO-engineered on-site content, and feature-led clusters, we built a strategy that delivered visibility across Google organic, Google AI Overview, and the major LLMs from a single content and link-building investment.
The Business Impact
Nomada's approach to AI visibility was a step ahead of every other agency we'd spoken to. They didn't pitch generic "AEO audits" - they showed us a specific playbook for how to get cited by ChatGPT and Google's AI Overview, and then they executed it. Within weeks we'd gone from invisible in a highly competitive niche to being recommended as the best cloud POS system across every AI search platform that matters.

The SEO Impact
Performance summary
In the period from late March to late April 2026, Vibe Retail's organic visibility transformed across every channel tracked. The site went from effectively no commercial-intent rankings to ranking on page 1 or page 2 for 17 high-intent retail POS terms, with 81 additional keywords newly ranking from unranked status.
Average position across the tracked keyword set improved by 26.4 places, with monthly organic traffic growing from near zero to 137 sessions on the cloud POS cluster alone - generating $1,300 in monthly traffic value that scaled from zero in the same window.

AI search and brand visibility
The most significant shift wasn't on Google's traditional results - it was across AI surfaces.
Vibe Retail is now the top-cited cloud POS brand inside Google's AI Overview for three separate high-intent buyer queries: "best retail pos systems," "best pos system for retail 2026," and "pos systems with inventory management 2026." For prompts run through ChatGPT - the largest LLM search surface by traffic share - Vibe Retail is mentioned in 100% of responses for the most commercially valuable comparison queries, and in 75% of responses for "what are the leading cloud-based POS systems for retail businesses?"
The third AI Overview citation is particularly significant because it demonstrates the playbook running on demand. The supporting "best of" listicle went live on the morning of 29 April 2026; by that evening, Google's AI Overview was already pulling it to the top of the response - naming Vibe Retail POS as Best Overall for inventory management for 2026. That kind of citation velocity is only possible when the underlying placement is engineered for AI consumption from the outset.
This level of AI search visibility, achieved in under eight weeks from a standing start, is the direct result of a deliberately AEO-engineered strategy - not a byproduct of traditional SEO.

Keyword improvement
Here are some of the most significant ranking gains since the strategy launched. Most were previously unranked, and have moved into top-20 commercial positions in a matter of weeks:

As with all Nomada strategies, every keyword targeted is a commercial-intent term where ranking inside the top 10 - and ideally inside the AI Overview citation set - aims to translate directly into qualified buyer traffic.
